About Toilet Map
Finding a public toilet in Cluj-Napoca has never been straightforward. Whether navigating the city centre, spending time in a park, or travelling with children, reliable information was simply not available in one place. This project was built to solve that problem.
The data
Toilet locations are sourced from OpenStreetMap, the open geographic database maintained by contributors worldwide. Every entry on this map has been individually reviewed: incorrect records have been corrected, outdated entries removed, and missing locations added through direct field verification. The goal is a map you can rely on, not just one that exists.
What's next
The long-term direction for this project is a community-supported platform where verified local contributors can submit and maintain toilet data across Cluj-Napoca. The current version establishes the foundation โ verified data, user ratings, and a reporting system โ for that model.
How it works
- Map rendering is provided by MapTiler, built on OpenStreetMap data.
- Ratings and reviews are stored anonymously in Google Firebase Firestore. No account or personal information is required.
- There are no advertisements, no user tracking, and no data sold to third parties.
Support this project
Maintaining this service involves ongoing costs for hosting and map infrastructure. There is no commercial backing behind it. If you find it useful, sharing it with others is the most direct way to support its continued availability.
